The performance of a waterfall-type cross-flow hydraulic turbine was studied both numerically and experimentally under the condition of a two-dimensional waterfall. To validate the numerical approach using the VOF method, a two-dimensional flow experiment was carried out by measuring the torque and efficiency of the turbine. Furthermore, the torque mechanism of the hydraulic turbine was studied based on the results of the numerical simulations.
